Over 100 Years of History
HOTEL TIMELINE
- 1879: Ocean City, NJ was founded by a group of Methodist ministers
- 1903: Rev. James E. Lake, part of the Founding Family of OCNJ, purchases the land at 601 Atlantic Ave
- 1905: Rev. Lake builds the original structure of the home
- 1922: The building is sold & an addition is added significantly increasing the size
- 1975: Theodore & Janina Mychailyshyn open a 30-room guesthouse called "Croft Hall"
- 2000: Kristina Mychailyshyn & Bob Doliszny purchase Croft Hall from her parents
- 2002: After an extensive renovation, the property opens as the luxurious "Atlantis Inn"
- 2011: Hotelier, Val Reyes, purchases the Atlantis Inn & continues to run it as a Bed & Breakfast
- 2024:
A local South Jersey family purchases and renovates the historic property, transforming it into Coastal Chateau — a luxurious castle by the sea.
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
A BiteSized Boutique Hotel
Coastal Chateau didn’t start as a hotel — it started as a dream shared by two sisters, Alyse (@bitesizedfitness) and Lexi (@bitesizedsis), who have always had a passion for design, storytelling, and creating unforgettable experiences.
Their journey began in 2014, when they launched the “BiteSized” brand — a name that would grow to reach over 150,000 loyal followers and become a trusted lifestyle presence across the Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey area. What began as a fitness company soon evolved into a broader celebration of fashion, empowerment, and bold creativity.
By 2017, Alyse and Lexi made headlines with their viral DreamWalk Fashion Show, a movement rooted in diversity and confidence. The event captured over 50 million views worldwide and filled venues from Philadelphia to New York City, establishing them as visionary creators.
When the world shifted in 2020, they pivoted once again — this time channeling their creative energy into design. Their company, BiteSized Designs, quickly became a six-figure success, crafting immersive event spaces and unforgettable short-term rental experiences with zero paid advertising.
It was only natural that the next chapter would be hospitality. In 2024, the sisters purchased a historic bed and breakfast in Ocean City, NJ — a property filled with charm but in need of new life. In just a few months, they transformed it into Coastal Chateau, a luxurious, design-forward boutique hotel just steps from the sand. Built with heart, hustle, and a love for coastal living, Coastal Chateau reflects everything Alyse and Lexi believe in: personal touches, beautiful spaces, and memorable stays.

As South Jersey natives, our families have cherished generations of vacations "down the shore" in Ocean City, NJ. Our fondest memories are filled with riding surreys along the boardwalk, savoring Manco & Manco pizza, and basking in endless beach days. Now, as owners of the Coastal Chateau, we are thrilled to extend this cherished experience to other families, helping them create their own unforgettable memories.

Founded by sisters Alyse and Lexi Scaffidi, this full-service design studio brings high-end style and thoughtful detail to events, interiors, and hospitality spaces. Known for their immersive, story-driven approach, they transform ordinary settings into unforgettable experiences — all without losing the warmth and personal touch that defines their brand. With the help of their mom, the trio blends creative vision with hands-on execution, curating everything from elaborate event installs to stylish short-term rentals. Their work is elevated yet approachable, always rooted in the belief that design should spark joy and leave a lasting impression.

At the Coastal Chateau, owner Anthony Dominick (Lexi’s fiancé) isn’t just our general contractor — he’s our MVP. Under his leadership, the entire property was renovated on-time and on-point. After a two decade career as a Philadelphia Union Carpenter, Anthony launched his business in 2022. With a name inspired by his background as a competitive baseball player, his company reflects the same values he brings to every job: precision, hustle, and a drive to knock it out of the park. From full-scale renovations to finishing touches, Anthony’s commitment to excellence is what brought the Coastal Chateau's vision to life. Simply put — when it mattered most, he came up clutch and hit a grand slam!
